Survivor Cook Islands will feature 16 contestants on 2 different tribes. The two tribes will spend the 40 days on the islands of Motu Rakau and Motu Rapota. Motu Rakau is the smaller of the two islands and is circular in shape. It features two wide clean beaches a higher center covered with trees and vegetation and high rocky cliff with scenic overviews. Motu Rapota is larger with steeper terrain and thicker vegetation. It also has a third beach and slightly lower rocky cliff on its north side. Before World War II the island was used as a Leper Colony.
