Episode Title: Big Trek, Big Trouble, Big Big Surprise
Air Date: 09-15-2005

Upon arriving cast members were greeted by Jeff Probst Probst who gave the tribes their names Yaxha and Nakum. He also informed them of the two surprise cast members returning from Survivor Palau Bobby Jon Drinkard and Stephenie Lagrossa. Both Bobby Jon Drinkard and Stephenie Lagrossa were welcomed into the cast

Jeff announced the first reward challenge and 11 mile hike thought the jungle. The reward for winning would be the better of the two camps, and flint. Before starting the trek both tribes were given a map, compass and as much corn and water as they wanted to carry.

On the trek moments worth noting when asked what he did Gary Hogeboom lied and said his last name was Hawkins not Hogeboom, and he was in the landscaping business. Blake Towsley was hit in the shoulder with a large spiky branch this seem to do a lot of damage to him and Margaret Bobonich performed some first aid. Later on throughout the hike Blake Towsley gets sick numerous times. The trek through the jungle was difficult while Nakum led most of the way it wasn't an easy journey. Eventually darkness fell and both teams had to sleep in the jungle. The nest morning both teams resumed hiking at dawn. At one point Yaxha caught up to Nakum on an open part of the path however they fell behind as some team members weren't able to keep up. During the remainder of the trek Bobby Jon Drinkard has problems with cramps caused by dehydration, again Margaret Bobonich helped him get back to his feet.

At the end of the Jungle Nakum reached the canoes first and began paddling across the lake. Yaxha emerged and was not to far behind, however they were unable to make up the distance and Nakum won the first reward challenge, getting the better campsite and flint for fire. When Yaxha completed the challenge Jeff Probst gave them a map so they could paddle back across the lake to their campsite. In the tribe interviews Stephenie Lagrossa says "This is the hardest challenge ever in Survivor"

The next day at the Nakum tribe Blake Towsley continues to be sick, Judd Sergeant and Jim Lynch are also sick from dehydration and fatigue. Bobby Jon Drinkard is in the worst shape of any of the tribe members, nearly unconscious with his eyes rolling back into his head several times, again Margaret Bobonich was able to help him recover.

The following day an oar arrives in tree mail and the players assume there will be a boat race of some kind. Stephenie Lagrossa offers up some advice on how to get the best results out of rowing challenges. The first immunity challenge consists of rowing out to a pylon grabbing a torch returning to the beach, and pulling the boat to the end of the beach across log rollers. Once the boat reaches the end the fire is lit, the first tribe who lights the fire wins immunity. Yaxha is the first to paddle the boat back into shore and get it on the rollers. While loading the boat Jim Lynch tears his bicep muscle, and several other players have their feet trapped temporarily under rolling logs. Jim Lynch injury proved too critical and Yaxha won immunity.

After the immunity challenge there wasn't much discussion of who was getting voted out although the some of the women briefly mentioned forming an alliance.
