The Casaya Tribe tribe welcomes Bruce Kanegai on his first night back from Tribal Council. Bruce Kanegai is assuming a leadership role in the tribe which doesn't sit well with Shane Powers. Bruce Kanegai is trying to purify the water using capillary filtration. The La Mina Tribe tribe is struggling with food and eating slug soup. They are trying to fish but having great difficulty. They are catching poisonous puffer fish, but Terry Deitz finally catches a small fish to eat.

The reward challenge consists of launching a ball via slingshot to tribe members who try to catch it. Reward consists blankets, pillows, fuel, lantern, rope, and a tarp. La Mina Tribe wins by a score of 5 to 4. Ina new twist La Mina Tribe gets to pick who goes to Exile Island, and picks Bruce Kanegai.

Back at camp for La Mina Tribe they are pretty excited to have won the reward challenge. The La Mina Tribe tribe is having some regrets about sending Bruce Kanegai to Exile Island. Bruce Kanegai is depressed on Exile Island not only because he is without a tribe but is suffering through a torrential downpour without a shelter. Casaya Tribe is depressed and suffering without Bruce's guidance. Shane Powers is not getting along with his other tribe mates especially Courtney Marit.

Misty is if flirting and giving a massage to Nick. The girls are of La Mina Tribe are trying to make Terry Deitz seem a real threat. The immunity challenge consists of digging up bags buried in sand. Tribes will be wrestling and competing for the same bag. Casaya Tribe wins in the last bag and sends La Mina Tribe to their first Tribal Council.

La mina is depressed about having lost the challenge. The men feel that one of the weaker women should be first to go. The second alliance feels Ruth Marie Milliman is the weakest member of the tribe. Terry Deitz feels it's been very tough so far but it's mostly physical. Dan Barry feels the tribe is coming to together very well. Austin Carty tells how they have no food so they are a little hungry. Misty Giles admits the women have to play at the same level as the men. Ruth Marie Milliman is a little concerned she has no alliance. Misty Giles becomes the third person voted off of the island.
